Bawshar is a city in northern Oman, part of the Muscat Governorate and situated to the west of the capital city Muscat. It lies along the main highway connecting Muscat with the interior of the country, making it a significant residential and commercial area within the greater Muscat metropolitan region. Travellers staying in Bawshar would be near the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the country and a major landmark open to non-Muslim visitors. The city is also close to the Royal Opera House Muscat and the Qurum Natural Park, which features a large lake, botanical gardens, and a rose garden. The nearby Al Sahwa Public Garden and the Muscat Hills offer green spaces for recreation. Bawshar's position provides relatively easy access to both Muscat's coastline and the rugged mountain terrain of the interior, including routes toward the historic town of Nizwa and the Jebel Akhdar highlands.
