About Al Qastal
Al Qastal is a small town in northern Jordan, located in the Irbid Governorate near the border with Syria. It sits in the fertile agricultural region of the Jordan Valley, surrounded by farmland and olive groves that characterize much of this part of the country. The town lies within easy reach of Irbid, Jordan's second largest city, which serves as the main commercial and educational hub for the north. Travellers staying in Al Qastal would be near the ancient ruins of Umm Qais, a former Decapolis city with dramatic views over the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights. The Yarmouk River valley, historically significant for the battle that shaped early Islamic history, lies to the west. The area around Al Qastal offers a quieter, more rural base for exploring northern Jordan's archaeological and biblical sites, with the Jordanian-Syrian border crossing at Ramtha also nearby.
