نبذة عن سلام

ويقع السلام على الساحل الجنوبي لعمان، الذي يواجه البحر العربي في منطقة الضفار. The city sits on a coastal plain backed by mountains, and for part of the year it catches monsoon winds that turn the surrounding hillsides green with mist and vegetation, a phenomenon rare on the Arabian Peninsula. الرحّال الذين يبقون هنا يجدون أنفسهم بالقرب من الشواطئ الرملية الطويلة حيث يمتد المحيط نحو الأفق، ويقتربون من المدينة القديمة التاريخية مع أسواقها التقليدية التي تبيع فرانكينسينس، سلعة جلبت هذه المنطقة ثروة تجارية قديمة. The nearby archaeological site of Al-Baleed preserves the remains of a medieval port city, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, while the lush wadis and coconut groves of the surrounding countryside offer a landscape quite unlike the desert interiors found elsewhere in the Gulf. The city also serves as a gateway to the Empty Quarter, the vast Sand desert that extends across the border into Saudi Arabia.
